Edward Alexander Wadsworth (1889 – 1949) was part of the modernist Vorticism movement. In the First World War he designed Dazzle camouflage for the Royal Navy, and continued to paint nautical themes after the war. Wadsworth originally studied engineering before moving on the Bradford School of Art then winning a scholarship to the Slade School of Art where his contemporaries included Stanley Spencer, CRW Nevinson, Mark Gertler, Dora Carrington and David Bomberg.
